Our Chinese “daughter”

Rosalind, our Chinese “adopted” daughter

Harding University has many students from China, and Tati and I were invited to “adopt” one of them. Our friend Deborah White has a roommate from China and we thought that it would be very nice if we could adopt her roommate Rosalind.

Rosalind is a sweet girl who is here in Searcy to major in accounting. She loves K-Pop and spending time with her friends!

As part of this program, Harding encourages us to spend time with our Chinese students, invite them over for dinner once a month and plan a Bible study if they are interested. Please, help us pray that we may be a good influence on Rosalind. ❤

Visit from the Cubsteads

The Cubsteads are our beloved church family and sponsors from Dallas, Texas. Maikon has known them since 2006 when he was an exchange student in Virginia and they attended church together in Arlington. They will be here with us in Searcy until Tuesday and will be attending Harding University’s Lectureships.

Pastors’ Conference

Today, Maikon and several other Bible majors attended the Ouachita Baptist University Pastors’ Conference. We heard two great speakers, writers Marving Pate and Scott Duvall, speaking on the Book of Revelation, chapters 1 – 3.

Mission Fair + GO Meeting

Today we had a busy day! We’re so excited to see what the Lord will have in store for us in 2019!

Top left picture: We had Melvina Brown from Let’s Start Talking visiting us. She spent the night in our apartment and then, today, she advertised for LST during HU’s Mission Fair.

Other three pictures: At night, we participated in the Global Outreach informational meeting. We had several students who signed up and are interested in going with us to Brazil and Lithuania next summer!

Plans for Summer 2019

Possible sites for mission trips in the summer of 2019

Hello everybody!

We just had a dinner meeting with Ken Graves (Harding University’s Global Outreach) and some other students from the university. We’ve talked about possible sites to do mission trips and explore in the summer of 2019. We have also spent a good amount of time talking about team formation. Here are the options we have:

1) a kids summer camp in Lithuania;

2) a survey trip to Portugal (possible future mission site for us);

3) Let’s Start Talking project in Brazil (Florianópolis again);

4) a survey trip to Florida (another possible mission site for us).

We’re excited for what the Lord may have in store for us. Please continue praying with us! ?

Outreach America – Guided by Christ: Friending People of Peace

This weekend, Maikon participated in “Guided by Christ:
Friending People of Peace“, a workshop organized by Harding University’s Outreach America. It was a moment in which we all got to introduce ourselves and share with each other our plans and dreams for missions in the USA and abroad.

Summer Report

Do you want to know more about us? Take a look at what we did in Brazil this past Summer. It was an amazing adventure, serving God and others.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20 NIV)

Summer Report 2018

Hello!

We are Maikon & Tati Borba. Right now we are Bible and Missions students at Harding University in Searcy, AR.

We are both native Brazilians and will soon be working as missionaries in South Florida (Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach area). We were former ESL teachers in Brazil and, after our graduation (May 2020), we want to start a bilingual ministry. We will love to combine our then new-acquired knowledge in Bible and Missions with our expertise in English teaching to help Brazilians and/or other immigrants by helping them learn English through the Bible. We are looking at either partnering with a local CoC or forming a team to plant a new church. If you’re interested in learning more about our plans, please get in touch! ?
